hello

My name is Robin and I have a few simple goals for Hello Sunny Day.
things I’d love to accomplish :
– a curated collection of fun design and diys
– a place that’s totally fine for all ages to visit
– creating a feeling of inspiration and joy
things I will avoid with a vengeance:
– ads! they ruin the mood and are extremely annoying
– news! we all need a major break from the news so this will be a place you can rest your eyes
– health stuff – there are many valuable and not so valuable opportunities to be exposed to health info so just relax while you’re here and focus on creativity (which is good for your health)
– what else? I’m thinking…hmmm…oh yeah, no AI !! I’m so tired of hearing about it and seeing those two letters. I could go on about how it doesn’t belong in the art and crafts world etc. etc. but that is all obvious already. My goal is to provide a place where you can trust that the post you are viewing was made by a real person…the production, the diy, the voice, the whatever…like the old days.

I’m in my forties…I grew up in the 90s and I’m thinking about the original blogs and ways of sharing ideas. There has to be a modern version that isn’t a social media site. I don’t know what that looks like yet.
My daughter, Stella, is 13 and lives a creative life. I love showing her things I find on instagram and pinterest but I can’t let her explore those alone…they’ve become wildly inappropriate. Also, is she seeing a “real” idea or person?
There are so many amazing accounts on Instagram that have brought me years of inspiration and I’m super thankful for that. Now, I want to share some of the things I’ve found in a way that makes people feel good, inspired, and cheerful by the end of the scroll.

I’m afraid the internet has lost its magic…that makers are losing inspiration…that creating endless amounts of content is exhausting. I’m afraid it will become impossible for my daughter to have a career as an artist or author…or anything creative.

I don’t know what I’m doing here on Hello Sunny Day. For now, I’m going to post things I’ve made and try to adjust to making content. I’d love to start posting things by other makers so I’ll get to that as well.

I promise this is the only page where you’ll see any negativity. I don’t intend to rant or express opinions. I’m not a writer…this page was a rambling free flow just to express my ideas for this site.

About Me:
I live with my husband and two teens in the U.S. Our kids have been homeschooled or maybe unschooled…let’s say, interest based learning. I worked as a freelance graphic designer for a few years and owned an etsy shop for many years. After packaging and shipping over 5,000 orders, I closed the shop and explored ways to make money digitally. I didn’t enjoy the business side of owning a business. I’ve worked on various kinds of projects here and there which led me to exploring artists and makers…then, learning how to license their work etc.
Now, I’m just excited to document creative things and share all the amazing makers I find. So, that’s the goal.
